Outdoor Activities:
We are most well known for the second most climbed mountain in the world (sometimes even the first!) ~ Mount Monadnock, but that is just the tip of the iceberg! There is downhill skiing at Crotched Mountain, which is an easy 25 minute drive from us, or if cross country is more your speed, Windblown in New Ipswich has spectacular trails for both cross country and snowshoeing. If a shorter hike is to your liking, both Miller State Park and Temple Mountain offer some kinder gentler slopes, and are part of the Wapack Trail. There are also countless hidden treasures locally - waterfalls and scenic vistas., and there are multiple opportunities to walk conservation land. Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge is an ethereal and stunning tribute to both those who have served our country and our spectacular scenery, and should not be missed.
Shopping:
Whatever your preference, we are surrounded by great options! Antiquing is very popular, and Peterborough is home to many fun shops, and there is a stretch starting in Amherst that travels right on through the Route 101 corridor. Depot Square in Peterborough has great shops for all kinds of unique items, and includes some clothing and gift stores as well as the Toadstool, an independently owned book and music store. The Merrimack Premium Outlets are not far, and both Amherst/Nashua and Keene offer all the "big box" options you might need. Both Wilton and Peterborough offer handmade chocolate shops, along with lots of locally made products, the lifeblood of our communities.

Culture:
From movies to live theater to live music, there is nothing you can't find in the Monadnock Region! The Peterborough Players was founded in 1933 and continues their season to this day, with live action plays with often famous artists. Both Wilton and Peterborough are home to their own movie theaters, independently owned and perfectly charming. The Peterborough Concert Series has brought some amazing talent, at least monthly, in a great venue. There are multiple museums and art galleries locally, and you can find a Contra Dance within 30 miles almost every weekend. Peterborough is also home to the MacDowell Colony , an artist's retreat, and The Temple Forest Monastery is open to the public for quiet reflection.

Restaurants:
Well ours is obviously the best - BUT, you do have lots of other options! From fine dining to home cooking ~ comfort foods, Asian influences, diners, Mexican, cafeteria style, take out - you can find it all within a short drive of our Inn. Peterborough is home to Post and Beam Brewing, which has their own brews made right on site! The area is rich in farm to table offerings, as we try and support our locals farmers as best we can. Ask us for our recommendations, we promise we won't steer you wrong!
